Colossians 3:12-17 | One Another Commands
Sep 3, 2023 • Rick Hardison
What does genuine Christian community look like? The New Testament’s many “one another” commands show that following Jesus cannot be reduced to an individual relationship with God. Christians are called to greet, encourage, stir up, bear with, and even lovingly admonish one another. These commands form the foundation of “spiritual pursuit”—the responsibility church members have to intentionally pursue loving relationships with one another. Admonishment, then, is not spiritual policing but one expression of a much broader life of compassion, patience, forgiveness, and love. When Christians consistently encourage, serve, and bear with each other, even difficult conversations can become natural expressions of genuine friendship and care.
