Luke 18:1-8 | Keep Praying When You Get a Raw Deal
Sep 13, 2020 • Rick Hardison
Does prayer really change anything, especially when answers seem delayed? In Luke 18:1–8, Jesus tells the parable of a persistent widow to encourage His followers to “always pray and not lose heart.” Her persistence eventually brings justice even from an uncaring judge, illustrating the effectiveness of persevering prayer. But God is nothing like the unjust judge: He deeply loves His people and hears their cries. This sermon encourages Christians to keep praying through disappointment, injustice, and suffering, trusting that God sees and will ultimately make things right. Persistent prayer is not a spiritual placebo—it sustains our faith and helps us remain faithful as we wait for Christ’s return.
