Luke 16:19-31 | Hell is Permanent
Aug 30, 2020 • Rick Hardison
What does Jesus teach about the reality of hell? In Luke 16:19–31, the story of the rich man and Lazarus presents a sobering picture of judgment. The rich man is condemned not simply because he is wealthy, but because his life of selfishness and neglect reveals his rebellion against God. Jesus describes hell as a place of real suffering and as a permanent destination from which there is no escape. Yet this warning is also a call to action. The reality of judgment should motivate Christians to share the gospel and urge everyone to turn from sin and trust in Jesus, whose death and resurrection provide the way of rescue.
