Ezra 5:1 - 6:12 | Expect Some Victories
Should Christians expect to lose, or should we believe God can give real victories in this life? Ezra 5–6 shows God turning opposition into unexpected blessing. When local officials challenge the rebuilding of the temple, their attempt to stop the work ultimately results in King Darius protecting the project and even funding it. This sermon argues that while Christians should expect suffering and opposition, we should also expect some spiritual victories. That expectation gives us hope when God’s providence seems discouraging, motivates us to take risks for His kingdom, helps us celebrate imperfect progress, and pushes us to work through ordinary means. Rather than adopting a losing mindset, believers can faithfully pursue obedience, trusting that God may accomplish far more than we expect.
