Ezra 1:1-4 | We Can Trust the Bible
Can we really trust the Bible, and can God change the heart of someone who wants nothing to do with Him? Ezra 1:1–4 gives us reason to answer both questions with confidence. This sermon explores how the return of the Jews from exile fulfilled remarkably specific Old Testament prophecies—including the naming of Cyrus long before his reign—and how historical evidence supports the biblical account. Yet Cyrus himself was not a faithful worshiper of Israel’s God. Behind his political motivations, God was sovereignly stirring his heart to accomplish His purposes. Ezra reminds us that God’s Word is trustworthy and that no unbelieving heart is beyond His reach, giving Christians powerful encouragement to keep praying for those who seem far from God.
