Matthew 6:1-18 | God Sees You
Why do we care so much about being noticed, praised, and liked by others? In Matthew 6:1–18, Jesus warns against religious hypocrisy—not simply in giving, praying, or fasting, but in doing good things for the approval of other people. This sermon explores the joy of secret obedience, the danger of living for recognition, and the humility reflected in the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus calls His followers to cultivate a faith that is genuine in private as well as public. The cure for our craving to be seen is not to stop wanting recognition altogether, but to remember who is watching. When our service goes unnoticed and our faithfulness feels invisible, we can rest in this encouraging truth: our heavenly Father sees us, values our obedience, and will reward us.
