1 Timothy 2:8-10 | Anger and Modesty

What do anger and modesty have in common? In 1 Timothy 2:8–10, Paul addresses two practical struggles within the church, calling men to pray without anger or quarreling and women to pursue modesty and good works. This message examines how Christians can become blind to anger, how prayer teaches us to surrender our agendas to God, and why modesty involves more than simply following a dress code. Both anger and immodesty can turn attention toward ourselves rather than God. Yet Paul’s instructions are ultimately rooted in the gospel: Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for sinners. Because Christ died for our anger and immodesty, believers can pursue lives marked by peacefulness, self-control, godliness, and a desire to give God the glory.
