1 Timothy 2:8-15 | The Goodness of God in a Controversial Text Part 2

What does God’s design for leadership teach us about masculinity? Continuing through 1 Timothy 2:11–15, this message looks closely at Paul’s appeal to creation: “Adam was formed first, then Eve.” The story of Genesis reveals not a privilege for men, but a responsibility—to take initiative, protect, teach, serve, and refuse the passivity that marked Adam’s failure in the garden. This sermon explores the goodness of masculinity, the responsibility of husbands and pastors to lead sacrificially, and why Paul grounds church leadership in creation rather than culture. Ultimately, our model is not a cultural stereotype of manhood but Jesus Christ—the perfect man who combined courage with compassion, strength with sacrifice, and bold leadership with loving service.
