1 Timothy 1:3-11 | Genealogies and Jesus

It’s easy to become fascinated with spiritual rabbit trails while missing the central message of Scripture. In 1 Timothy 1:3–11, Paul warns Timothy about teachers who were consumed with myths, genealogies, speculation, and debates that distracted people from the gospel. This message explores how Christians can still become preoccupied with peripheral issues, secret knowledge, and controversies while neglecting what matters most. Paul reminds us that God’s law is good: it promotes human flourishing, reveals our sin, and ultimately points us to our need for Jesus. Rather than using Scripture to fuel speculation or pride, we should allow God’s Word to expose our brokenness, lead us to Christ, and shape lives that point others to Him.
