1 Timothy 1:18-20 | Wage the Good Warfare
The Christian life is not a spectator sport—it is a spiritual battle. In 1 Timothy 1:18–20, Paul urges Timothy to “wage the good warfare” by protecting the gospel, confronting false teaching, and refusing to remain on the sidelines. But Christians must also choose the right battles, avoiding foolish controversies that distract from the mission of Christ. Through the sobering examples of Hymenaeus and Alexander, this message also explores how rejecting a good conscience can eventually shipwreck a person’s faith. Paul’s warning reminds us that what we believe and how we live are deeply connected. Christians are called to fight faithfully, pursue obedience, guard the gospel, and lovingly seek the restoration of those who wander from the faith.
